What type of window furnishing is the best solution for me?

What do I need to do before installation begins?

Our ordering process results in weekly deliveries on blinds. We generally schedule installation a week after orders arrive, allowing around 15 working days from payment of deposit to installation. Curtains are usually around 4 weeks' lead time. We do our best to meet deadlines and as such can do installations every day. Time taken in a home is usually an hour or more, depending on how many units are being installed.

Are blinds insulating?

All window coverings provide some additional insulation. The examples below show scores on a scale of 0 - 5 (0 is not insulating at all and 5 equals fully insulating):

Aluminium Venetian blinds sit around 2 points, but a honeycomb blind can have a score as high as 4.8.
Sunscreen blinds can reach up to 3, and thermal block-out blinds around 3.8 - 4, depending on fabric type.

Dual blinds, ie. a sunscreen and a block-out blind together, will offer great insulation.
A lot of our fabrics manufacturers have tables that depict the factors.

Do you offer bespoke, custom design solutions?

We offer a bespoke window furnishing service, including some ideas and features that are unique to Shoestring Blinds. With 35 years of industry experience, your schema will be the best fit with quality products and craftsmanship, while also reflecting your taste and needs.

What about skylights and windows with unusual shapes?

We approach each skylight window individually and custom design a system that will work best.

For skylight windows, you can choose from shutters, honeycomb blinds (motorised or not) and motorised Roman style blinds.

For windows with unusual shapes, we offer custom made shutters, custom made fixed panel blinds, or angled vertical blinds.
